Smart City

10 Startups’ Solutions for Smart Mobility

By

Smart cities can become smarter by improving ease of mobility so inhabitants and visitors can take full advantage of all a city has to offer. Inefficient transit pollutes the city and makes the daily routine a daily battle. The European Environment Agency published in 2019 that over 400,000 early deaths per year can be attributed to air pollution.

Poor mobility also comes with the much less intense, but still very real repercussions of poor health, stress and general annoyance from traffic (sitting in it, hearing it, etc). The TomTom traffic index revealed that Parisians spend 134 hours per year sitting in traffic, while Athenians spend around 131 hours. That’s a lot of podcasts.

Innovation within the mobility sector can improve air quality and bring precious time and energy saved on commuting back to our days. These ten companies are getting onto the streets (and into the air) to rethink the way we move in cities.
