Paper cups, plastic cutlery, and disposable napkins are usually available at every festival. After the events are over, there are usually mountains of rubbish left behind. But does that have to be the case? The Waterkant Festival wants to change this and has tried to create as little waste as possible this year. We visited the idyllic festival at the Baltic Sea and asked what the organizers and startups (POLYMEER, Zero Waste Kiel e.V.& ComposTech) do to avoid waste.
Of course, we are also looking at investments in startups from Europe. This week the focus is on two Scandinavian startups. The supplier of sustainable battery cells and systems Northvolt and the food delivery startup Wolt. At the end of the programme, we will talk to Alexander Ohrt, founder, and co-initiator of the Waterkant Festival, about the direction and aims of the event.
