UK-based startup allplants has raised €3.9 million on investment platform Seedrs, surpassing its €2.3 million goal. The company attracted over 1,800 investors, some of whom included its loyal customer base. Allplants also received funding from Octopus Ventures and Felix Capital. With this round, allplants has become the UK’s largest-ever vegan crowdfunding round. Out of its investors, 76% stated that they themselves are not vegan, however, 73% also stated that they believe there is a lack of healthy food options in the UK. Another 75% said that they wanted to invest in a sustainable business.
Founded in 2017, allplants is a plant-based meal delivery service that seeks to capitalise on the lack of vegan delivery options. The company recently completed its millionth vegan meal delivery for its customers, whose choices range from Fiery Jerk Jackfruit and Cauli Tikka Masala. With the raised funds, the company plans to create new food categories and serve over 60,000 meals per week from their kitchens. By 2025, it hopes to expand to other markets in North America and Europe.
