Berlin-Based Travel Startup Tourlane Raises Further €42 Million

Berlin-based travel startup Tourlane has raised €42M in a Series C round led by previous investors Sequoia and Spark Capital, just six months after its previous funding round brought in €21M. The fresh capital takes the company’s total funding amount to €72M, all raised within the last two-and-a-half years.

Combining Expertise, Data and Technology

Tourlane is an online booking platform for customised multi-day tours, offering experiences in over 30 countries worldwide. Tourlane’s service combines the best of technology, data and expert travel consulting. The company works with service providers and offers customers flights, accommodation, tours, activities, and transfer options all in one place.

As well as online via the website, customers can use the Tourlane app to book their travel and experiences. Users are connected to travel experts who will assist them during their first consultation, the booking process, and the trip itself. The platform provides real-time pricing, availability, trip visualisation, and drag-and-drop adjustments to simplify planning for a multi-day trip.

Tourlane Plans International Expansion

The startup, founded in 2016, hopes to use the latest investment to take the platform to the next level. Julian Weselek, Co-founder & Co-CEO of Tourlane, said about the funding: “The additional capital will help us strengthen our position and continue our international growth to create the best experience in travel.” This involves expanding the service to include more countries around the world, as well as adding to the already 200-strong staff and developing the product further.

Alongside lead investors Sequoia and Spark Capital, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures and DN Capital once again expressed their confidence in Tourlane’s vision by joining the Series C round after taking part in the startup’s previous funding rounds.
