Yanis Varoufakis Talks About the Green New Deal for Europe

StartupTV presents the second episode of its DeepDive series. Here, Yanis Varoufakis, Greek academic, economist and politician, talks about his vision for the future of European politics, including a Green New Deal for Europe. In 2015, Varoufakis launched his own party, The Democracy in Europe Movement, or DiEM25, alongside Croatian philosopher Srećko Horvat.

Varoufakis’ vision for a Green New Deal, financed by green investment bonds issued by the European Investment Bank (EIB), is to unite leftists, greens and liberals across the continent. He wants the movement to transform the economy, create sustainable, secure jobs, and help combat the environmental crisis that faces us today.

The interview was recorded at multicult.fm in March 2019.
