Domio Turns any Helmet into Audio and Communication System

Are you someone who enjoys to ride and commute with a motorcycle or scooter but have difficulty listening to your own music while you ride? Domio Sports have created a one of kind of device that gives riders a booming surround sound as they drive along the city. Not only can you listen to your favorite song on your way to work but you can also give your mom call while you are stuck in traffic.

How it Works

Domio’s Pro device uses a variety of components and technologies that allow the helmet to function properly. It can be mounted anywhere on the helmet and operates very similar to any Bluetooth device.

The patent-pending vibro-audio system works by dispatching sound by sound waves. They travel through the air and then enter the ear canal which causes vibrations in our eardrum allowing us to hear various sounds.

Customers easily mount the Domio Pro device on the outside of the helmet then the system is able to transfer the sound waves through the air and into their ears. Even though sounds travel best through the air, the Domio Pro device is capable of traveling through solids, like a helmet, as well.

Main Features

The Domio Pro is equipped with various advantageous functions while the users can mount it practically anywhere on the helmet. This includes a micro USB rechargeable battery, giving 24 hours of playtime, a Bluetooth system which comes equipped with a beam-forming noise-canceling microphone. Additionally, there is a 3M mounting system able to withstand any type of force or impact, perfect for snowboarders and skiers.

How it All Started

Co-founder Bart Lipski, former chief creative at Google, and Sebastian Koper, former product Architect at Aerospace started Domio in 2016 in Toronto, Canada. Bart and Sebastian both had interests in outdoor activities but weren’t able to find an audio solution that worked well with helmets.

Products they found were either too uncomfortable or too unsafe because it blocked the surroundings sounds with earbuds or speaker inserts. They created the Domio that answered these problems in 2017 then developed the Domio Pro which now includes voice communication. Domio Sports plans to ship the new helmets in fall 2018.
