Every company knows this problem: If an employee leaves the company, he also takes along all the knowledge about processes and procedures that may have never been recorded or defined. It practically disappears with the employee.
Additionally, internal communication between departments in large corporations is often poor. As a result of that, employees from various departments are working on solutions for one and the same problem. The operational efficiency suffers and these communication challenges prevent the organization from operating at peak performance.
Machine Learning, Knowledge Management and Discoverability
Therefore, the Startup Lateral has decided to address this problem. The team created a machine learning software that makes the knowledge available and visible within companies and external sources. Since these are the problems that the German Railways company is dealing with too, the startup Lateral participated in their Accelerator Program.
The CEO of Lateral, Martin Karlsson, was surprised by the company’s openness: “The cooperation with Deutsche Bahn has by far exceeded our expectations.” Karlsson was particularly impressed by the direct access to the various business segments.
