Easymile Aims to Make Every Mile Easier with Driverless Shuttles

Easymile – the Elevator Pitch.

It’s an autonomous vehicle technology company, with a focus on safety and reducing congestion. This smart mobility startup was founded in 2014 in Toulouse. Notably, it has designed the EZ10, a driverless shuttle that can carry 15-16 people. Additionally, airports, business parks, rural areas, hospitals, and more have already implemented its solutions.

How Easymile will shape smart cities.

Studies have shown that driverless vehicles have the potential to reduce congestion, one of the major problems plaguing urban areas around the world.

‘At EasyMile, we believe that autonomous mobility will have a very positive and deep impact on the way people move. And with our zero-emission, fully electric EZ-10, we aim to make roads safer, reduce congestion and reclaim the city to the people,’ stated Chief Technology Officer Pejvan Beigui.

Why we’re watching.

Most notably, its EZ-10 shuttles launched this year at Austin Airport and Berlin Tegel. Further, it is wheelchair accessible, featuring an electric ramp for passengers with limited mobility. At this point, an attendant staffs each vehicle to ensure smooth functioning. The plan is that the shuttles will eventually be completely driverless. With its partnerships with local transit authorities in multiple cities, Easymile is already bringing autonomous driving onto the streets. I guess miles feel like kilometres when you don’t have to drive.
